What are NBA futures?

A futures bet locks in a price now on an outcome decided later. The reward for betting early is a better number — a contender to win the title costs far more in October than it does in May. The trade-off is that your stake is committed for months, and an injury or a slump can sink a ticket you can't easily exit.

Championship odds

The headline market: every team priced to win the title, from short favorites to deep long shots. Championship odds move all season as teams rise, fall, make trades, and suffer injuries.

Conference and division winners

Season win totals

• Around news. A blockbuster trade, a key injury, or a hot streak can open temporary value windows.
• Availability matters for awards. With modern games-played rules, bet MVP and award futures on players expected to log a full, healthy season.
• Hedging. A live long-shot futures ticket deep in the playoffs can sometimes be hedged with late bets to lock in profit.

A note on tied-up money

Futures don't pay out for months, so treat the stake as committed capital and size it accordingly. Even a sharp futures bet can be undone by a single injury — that long horizon is both the appeal and the risk.
